Lots of people are suffering with the XBOX 360 version of Modern Warfare 2 not finding games. Myself included.
After filtering through some of these posts, there are some answers to this that are not suitable for everyone. I thought I'd post my findings in case they are useful for other people.
Ok the main fix for this is related to NAT and opening ports, and will only work if you only have one XBOX in the house. If like me you have housemates with XBOX's, this fix unfortunately will not work.
Without going into the specifics of assigning IP address and specific router set ups, all you need to do is bind an IP address to your XBOX from the router settings (so the XBOX is effectively at a static IP address), leave the XBOX network settings on Automatically Assigned though, as the router will deal with this. Now set up the following open ports for the IP address you assigned to your XBOX:
UDP/TCP: 3074, 53
UDP: 88
TCP: 80 (NOTE - may clash with the web setup of your router, but as this is purely the HTTP port address you can probably safely leave this off and let NAT take care of it)
Ignore other published advice about opening ports for one XBOX and setting another in the DMZ as, if your routers implementation of DMZ is correct, simply will not work. DMZ *should* bypass any other port rules and effectively stick one of your private IP's on the other side of the router. However in my experience, several router manufacturers just don't implement DMZ correctly.
If you have done this correctly, and your router is actually doing what it is told, you will have no problems finding games on MW 2. However this will only work for a single Xbox and will prevent any others in your household from connecting to XBOX Live. Sucks, I know.
Now as far as I can tell this may be a specific problem with MW 2 as other Live games seem to work correctly by just letting the router take care of things via NAT.
Personally I used a Draytek 2930 router, which in my opinion is one of the best routers you can buy without going into the big commercial realms and spending thousands on one. Plus it happily handles our 50 meg connection.
I've recently raised a technical support query with Draytek in regard to XBOX Live / MW2 but have yet to hear.
More news if I get any further.
